Tube vessels (since 2019, ongoing)
In this series, I explore clay's plasticity through deliberate deformation. Beginning with cylindrical tubes formed under pressure, each vessel undergoes a process of intentional alteration. The tubes, created by forcing clay through extrusion tools, become my raw material for further manipulation.
The transformation continues as I apply varying degrees of pressure to these tubes—compressing, folding, and pinching them while still malleable. When combining multiple tubes, I use pressure at the connection points, creating structural bonds that become integral to the final form. This systematic application of force captures moments where structure yields to intervention.
The white clay body and minimal glazing highlight these structural transformations. Visible marks—compressed edges, stretched surfaces, finger impressions—document the physical dialogue between pressure and material. Each piece responds to both deliberate force and the clay's natural tendencies, exploring the tension between control and surrender.
These vessels exist in a liminal space between container and sculptural form, inviting reconsideration of ceramic objects and their relationship to space. Through pressure and manipulation, conventional forms transform into expressions of material potential.
